Axel was funded by the City of Melbourne to test Nehushtan, a new public artwork designed for the Royal Melbourne Hospital.
I was recently selected as an artist in the City of Melbourne's Test Sites Public Art program, which provides opportunities for artists to explore and experiment with temporary creative ideas in the public realm for those new to exploring the public realm and spatial practice.
Through the program, I collaborated with a small team to create a projection film titled Nehushtan which was designed for a disused bus stop at the entrance to the Royal Melbourne Hospital in Naarm, Australia. On the 15th June 2023, Nehushtan made it's premier and was met with great curiosity and wonder from patients, healthcare workers and families.
It was wonderful to connect with the other artists involved in the program and to share generous ideas and have rich conversations.
You can read more about Nehushtan along with a trailer here and see the post from the City of Melbourne's Public Art instagram here.
